247: Don’t miss this comedic Cinema Circle screening of one of Mel Brooks’ and Gene Wilder’s delightfully hilarious films, Young Frankenstein! Respected American neurosurgeon and scientist Dr Frederick Frankenstein (Gene Wilder), grandson of the infamous Dr Victor Frankenstein, inherits his grandfather’s castle in Transylvania. At first steadfastly refusing to follow in his grandfather's "doodoo", he changes his mind when he finds the record of Victor's research. Aided by hunchback Igor (the inimitable Marty Feldman), lab assistant Inga (Teri Garr), and housekeeper Frau Blücher (Cloris Leachman) (neigh!), Frederick becomes determined to reanimate a dead body (Peter Boyle). Let the hijinks begin!
Sponsored in part through the Sturgis Area Community Foundation - Flora Beck Performing Arts Endowment Fund.
The Sturgis Cinema Circle seeks to engage audiences with the experience of seeing classic films on the big screen while enjoying an expanded understanding of the film's cultural and historical significance through a featured post-show conversation hosted by the director of the Sturges-Young. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students, seniors and military, which are available by phone at (269) 651-8541 or walk-up sales prior to show date and at the door. Concessions available.

247: One of the most impactful, immersive war movies of all time, Steven Spielberg's cinematic achievement takes viewers as close to the front line as possible offering a human take on the chaos of war. Saving Private Ryan (1998) is a powerful and evocative World War II epic dealing with the value of life and the personal toll that war takes on one's humanity, as a group of 8 soldiers battle impossible odds to save the last surviving son of a family that has already lost 3 in action. Tom Hanks leads a star-studded cast through some of the most realistic combat scenes ever brought to the big screen.
