Mallory was born into a musical family and has been singing essentially her entire life. She is 20 years old and is a sophomore at Hope College pursuing a degree in civil engineering. At Hope is also immersed in the music scene. She has performed several times at the Thursday night Coffee House. Her performance for "The Hope College Tiny Dorm Music Series" has experienced excellent viewership. She is currently the female lead vocalist in college’s Americana folk band ElkMob. She is also a guitar/vocalist the Hope College Worship Program. Mallory exudes a comfortable and earthy persona behind the microphone. She is inclined to interpret songs rather than merely reproduce them. Artists she finds inspiring include Seth Glier, The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, Delta Rae (and her mother!)

Described by Rolling Stone as "pure Americana heart and soul", The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash are the voice and vision of songwriter Mark Stuart. Since forming the band in 1995, he's performed with most every major artist in the Country and Americana music community. Stuart was personally given permission to use the band's name by Johnny Cash himself.

He was also honored by the Man in Black with an invitation to record songs at Cash's own home in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Two other iconic music legends, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, were also early believers who were instrumental in helping Stuart get his start.

With the release of their critically acclaimed debut CD "Walk Alone" in 1999, the Bastard Sons quickly proved they were no novelty act. With strong songwriting and great musicianship, the Sons' quickly jumped to the forefront of the growing Alternative Country scene. No stranger to the road, their constant touring and hard work have built the band a loyal grass roots following both in the States and abroad.

Whether performing in front of thousands at a festival in the US or Europe, or playing all night in a Texas dance hall, for Stuart it’s all about respect. "The Bastard Sons never were, and never will be, a Johnny Cash tribute band." It's always been about honoring the musical ideals of our heroes, and paying respect to the originality, integrity, and independence that made those artists who they are. In the first part of the 20th century the southwest quadrant of Sturgis, later known as Dog Town, was mostly farmland or open prairie (hence the name Prairie Street). The rest of Sturgis was already a bustling place, and by 1916 the downtown area had electric streetlights. Not so in Dog Town. Here the streets weren't paved until the 1950s, the homes had no running water, and many of the floors were dirt. It was a neighborhood of the working poor, where everyone worked together to have each other's backs. Children played outdoors year round and neighbors weren't shy about correcting another's child. The people there practiced the principle "it takes a neighborhood to raise a child." It was in this neighborhood, Dog Town, where fond memories developed. The uplifting documentary film Dog Town premieres Friday, May 31st, at 7 pm at the Sturges-Young Civic Center & Auditorium. Tickets are $10 and are available now at the Depot Museum, Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce, York Mercantile, and Willer's Shoes. Dog Town in sponsored by the Sturgis Historical Society, City of Sturgis, and the Newell A. and Grace A. Franks Fund, a fund within the Sturgis Area Community Foundation.
